NYU Is 7th in the Nation!
In what is clearly the greatest competitive
achievement in NYU Forensics history, NYU placed 7th in the nation
at the 2006 NFA National Tournament. In addition to this ranking,
placing NYU alongside the country's largest and most prestigious
programs, NYU finished in first place in President's Division
I, eclipsing all other programs of its size. Both NYU seniors
broke into outrounds, with Cecille Gumabon repeating her status
as a Quarter-Finalist in Rhetorical Criticism from AFA, and Liz
Coleman Semi-Finaling Rhetorical Criticism, placing 5th in Impromptu,
and - as at AFA - placing 2nd in Persuasion, winning Extemporaneous
Speaking, and ranking as the second overall speaker in the nation.
Liz, Cecille, and the entire team represented NYU and NYU Forensics
fantastically and achieved what is truly a historic and extraordinary
victory.

Tournament in Gainesville, its highest placing ever! Both graduating
seniors broke into out rounds, with more total slots broken than
NYU's ever had at a National Tournament, including its first breaks
ever in 3 different PA events. In addition, the team scored its
first ever individual sweeps placing, and it was second-place
in the nation! The entire team came together for what was an incredible
showing of skill, effort, and determination.

The Season Begins
This announcement is a little belated,
but NYU's competitive season began at West Chester University
on October 8 and 9. NYU did fantastically, placing fourth overall
and winning a slew of awards. Our new crop of novices did quite
nicely, with no fewer than eight awards amongst them. It
was an auspicious beginning to what is sure to be another great
year.
